Director Penny Woolcock gives the seen but unheard residents of London's streets a voice in her latest feature-length documentary.

Shot over eight months, Penny worked with and filmed the lives of London's rough sleepers, discovering along the way that the problems of the homeless is often more deep-rooted than the need for a roof over their heads.

Despite the best efforts of charities to find them beds to sleep in, it became clear that London's homeless often feel happier and safer on the streets.

On the Streets received its cinematic premiere at BFI Southbank on Monday 1st November 2010 as part of The Grierson Trust's celebration of Penny's work.
