Philip Dodd

Profile

Philip Dodd's literary career spans publisher, editor and author. He co-created and compiled According to the Rolling Stones (Weidenfeld & Nicolson/Chronicle 2003) – the band's definitive story – as well as landmark volumes for U2, Pink Floyd, Genesis and Abba. He is, with Ben Donald, author of The Book of Cities (Pavilion 2004) and The Book of Islands (Palazzo 2008).

His own writing has been deemed by the Guardian’s Ian Sansom as stable-mate to Clive James, Ben Schott and Stephen Fry in its wry take on the world around us; as an editor and collaborator, he has been called by Nick Mason ‘the Swiss Army knife of writing... and I don’t mean the pathetic key-ring one, I mean the really good one that can do anything!’ His clients have included household names from the world of business and entertainment.

Born in Ipswich and brought up in Suffolk and Buckinghamshire, Philip read French and Spanish at Jesus College, Oxford. He now lives in North Kent with his wife and two daughters.
