Gareth Malone and the Military Wives Choir reach Christmas number one
December 25, 2011
Following weeks of unwavering national support the single 'Wherever You Are', from Gareth Malone and the Military Wives Choir has reached Christmas number one.
After the success of The Choir: Military Wives, the single ‘Wherever You Are’ went on general release on the 19th of December, having already broken records for sales in a bid to reach number one on Christmas Day.
‘Wherever You Are’ raced past some of the bestselling albums of the decade, from artists including Take That, Coldplay and Susan Boyle, to become the most pre-ordered music product of all-time at Amazon.co.uk.
“This is a tremendous achievement when you consider that Take That’s album marked Robbie’s return and was one of the most highly-anticipated music releases ever. With a week of pre-orders still to go, this puts the Military Wives choir in a great position to be Christmas number one,” said Roger Greensmith, music and MP3 manager at Amazon.co.uk Ltd.
‘Wherever You Are’ by Military Wives with Gareth Malone is currently beating albums by Amy Winehouse, Coldplay and Adele in the music bestseller chart at Amazon.co.uk on pre-orders alone. Available as a CD and download, the single is available nationwide, with all proceeds going to charity.
