Rex Obano is a playwright and screenwriter. He was born in London and educated
at the University of North
London, where he studied Philosophy. After he graduated, he spent a year
in the USA and studied Playwriting at City College in New York.
Rex was part of the Script Factory Writers
Passage Group in 2005 and Talawa Theatre's Writers Group in 2006.
Rex trained as an actor at the
Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, where he was awarded the Laurence
Olivier Bursary. In a wide-ranging career on stage, Rex has appeared with the Royal Shakespeare
Company, the Theatre Royal, York, Theatre Clwyd and the National Theatre, where he appeared in Rufus Norris' production of Death and the King's Horseman.
