Richie Benaud is a former professional cricketer, and captained Australia in 28 of his 63 Test Matches.
A great all round player, he never lost a series while in charge and was, in 1963, the first cricketer to complete the double of 2,000 runs and 200 wickets in Test cricket. He remains one of only ten Australians to have scored more than 10,000 runs and taken over 500 wickets in first class cricket. He was also the first player to complete the double of 2,000 runs and 200 wickets in Australian Sheffield Shield cricket.
Richie began his broadcasting career on BBC Radio in 1960 and became a well known and well loved cricket commentator. He has worked for Australia's Channel Nine and Channel 4 in the UK. His autobiography, Richie Benaud: My Spin on Cricket, was published by Hodder and Stoughton in 2005.
