Alex studied film at Columbia University, New York; his graduation film Ralph was awarded UK Film Council Completion Funding and premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. Ralph was nominated for a BAFTA for Best Short Film in 2009  and was shown at the London, New York, Sao Paulo and New Orleans Film Festivals.

In 2009 Alex completed his half-hour original film Harvest written by Richard Bean for Channel 4's Coming Up Strand. Recently Alex was picked by Screen International as one of their 'Stars of Tomorrow' for 2009.
