Laurence Wilson's Lost Monsters 'a magical delight'

Jun 04, 2009

Lost Monsters by Laurence Wilson

The world premier of Lost Monsters by Laurence Wilson is playing at the Liverpool Everyman until 13 June 2009. The production, directed by Matt Wilde, stars Joe McGann, Rebecca Ryan, Nick Moss and Kevin Trainor.

Lost Monsters is Laurence Wilson's second full length play to be produced at The Everyman, his first play Urban Legend  premiered there in 2004 and Laurence was the Pearson writer in residence there from 2006 to 2007.

'Occasionally a play comes along that delights at every turn and Laurence Wilson's second full-length play, Lost Monsters is such a play...In short from first to last, Lost Monsters is an intriguing, beguiling, magical delight that should be cheered and applauded to the rafters.' The Stage

'the spellbinding ambition of Wilson's strange, rough magic.' The Guardian

'Lost Monsters captivates the audience from the start...scenes have audiences in stitches of laughter...Underneath the humour, however, Lost Monsters beautifully asks more questions on society and the world we inhabit.' Whatsonstage

'Lost Monsters is part of the Everyman's commitment to new writing, and the 50th 'homegrown' production at the Everyman and Playhouse since 2004. It's an impressive record, and Wilson's off-beat, mystical-tinged tale has the potential to be one of its most enduring results.' Liverpool Echo
