Stanley Tucci will appear on the popular German television programme
Durch die Nacht mit… (translated as
Into the Night with...) on ARTE on Saturday 11 February. The documentary style show, which has been on the air since 2002, revolves around the experiences of two celebrities of the arts and culture worlds as they spend an evening together in one of the world’s major cities.
In their episode, Tom Rob Smith and Stanley Tucci spend an evening in New York, where they visit locations including the UN, the Museum of Modern Art, Harlem and a Socialist book store in Soho, enabling them to discuss and explore the things that are important to them: politics, art, fashion, good food and their work.
Tom Rob Smith burst onto the literary scene with his debut novel
Child 44 in 2008. Since then, he has followed up with
The Secret Speech in 2009 and
Agent 6 in 2011. All three works focus on Russia during the soviet era, and the political realities lived out by its citizens. Tom Rob Smith’ novels are international bestsellers, with his work being translated into 34 languages.
Hollywood actor Stanley Tucci has starred in films such as
The Devil Wears Prada and
The Lovely Bones. In 2012, he is set to star as Caesar Flickerman in the film adaptation of
The Hunger Games. He will also be releasing a cookbook titled
Stanley Tucci: Family, Friends and Food.
Durch die Nacht mit… has proven a hit in Germany, with Tucci and Smith appearing in the show’s 92nd episode. Past episodes have included Barbara Hendricks und Henning Mankell in Stockholm, Alan Cumming and Ian Rankin in Edinburgh and Juliette Lewis and Crispin Glover in Prague.
