Whatsonstage.com have announced their shortlist of nominations for the 12th annual awards, which are voted for by the theatre-going public.
Nominees include Alecky Blythe's London Road, directed by Rufus Norris, which has been nominated for See Tickets Best New Musical and The Les Miserables Best Ensemble Performance. Also, Ben Brown has been nominated for The Nick Hern Books Best New Play for Three Days in May, which is currently showing at Trafalgar Studios starring Warren Clarke as Winston Churchill.
Jeremy Herrin also enjoys success with his production of Much Ado About Nothing at Shakespeare's Globe, which has been nominated for the Best Shakespearean Production and his production of The Heretic by Richard Bean has been nominated for Best New Play, and Johnny Flynn who starred has been nominated for The Dewynters London Newcomer of the Year.
Headlong's Decade, which both Alecky Blythe and Ella Hickson contributed to, and The Bush Theatre's 24-hour cycle of 66 Books have both been nominated for The Aka Theatre Event of the Year. James Graham, Nick Payne, Deirdre Kinahan and Enda Walsh all wrote for 66 Books with Joe Murphy and Nessah Muthy directing.
