Black Pond, written and directed by Will Sharpe, has received further critical acclaim with two BAFTA nominations and a further one at the Evening Standard Awards.

The film is in contention for ‘Outstanding Debut by a British Writer’ as well as ‘Most Promising Newcomer’ at the BAFTAs, and the ‘Peter Sellers Award for Comedy’ in the Evening Standard Awards. Furthermore, Black Pond also won the First Loco Discovery Award, receiving praise from the company's director Denise Hicks: “Black Pond stands out as an original, beautifully crafted film.”

Also starring Helen Cripps, Black Pond is a comedy drama that follows an ordinary British family and their Japanese friend who are accused of murder when a stranger dies at their dinner table.

As well as co-writing Black Pond, Will plays Tim Tanaka, the family friend responsible for kick-starting the film's murder plot. Among a number of positive reviews, the Guardian awarded Black Pond four stars, describing it as “funny, dreamily lyrical, armor-plated with eccentric self-confidence and also intensely English.”

BAFTA winners will be announced at the ceremony on 12th February at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, with a ceremony for winners of Evening Standard Awards taking place on 6th February at the London Film Museum.
