Chris Killen was born in 1981 and currently lives in Manchester. His first novel, The Bird Room, was published by Canongate in 2009. 

In collaboration with novelists Joe Stretch and Socrates Adams, he made a low-budget comedy feature film called Wizard's Way, which won the 2012 Discovery award at the London Comedy Film Festival. 

His second novel, In Real Life, was published by Canongate in 2015.
