He has also been an editor or writer for Quartz, MIT Technology Review, WIRED, Scientific American and Fast Company. His academic background is in neuroscience, anthropology and evolutionary biology. In 2017 he won a SABEW award for commentary, but the accomplishment he is most proud of being is being a den leader in Cub Scout pack 1885.
