Emily Thomas is a freelance editor, writer and consultant, and a published author, both under a pseudonym and her own name. Born in London, Emily moved with her family to the Essex coast when she was a teenager in the late 1970s; a period she wrote about to critical acclaim in her semi-autobiographical crossover novel, Mud, which was published in 2018 by Andersen Press and was long-listed for the Carnegie Medal.

Emily has worked in publishing since the late 1980s, predominantly editing and publishing children’s and young adult fiction, and is now a freelance editor, consultant and copywriter. Blythe Spirits is her first adult novel.
