Jackie Okwera is a screenwriter for TV and film. Before her screenwriting career took off, Jackie spent eleven years working in TV and film development. She script edited continuing drama series and then worked in development for various leading UK indies, which culminated in a BAFTA membership in 2018. 

Jackie is currently writing an episode of an exciting new Bad Robot series for HBO Max. She is also a supervising producer for her episode. Jackie has written episodes of Emmerdale, Mallorca Files and has worked in writers’ rooms for HBO Max, Netflix, Sky and Channel 4.  She has original projects in development with Merman, Big Light Productions, Archery Pictures and Expectation Entertainment. Jackie was also selected as one of the Edinburgh TV festival’s ‘Ones to Watch’ in 2021.
