John
Craine

John is a Director of Photography who shoots in a naturalistic style; working between drama and documentary has meant the two disciplines inform each other. He loves to express meaning with camera, tying a line between character and audience, telling stories with elegance and clarity.

John graduated from The London Film School in 2010 and has since worked across drama, documentary and branded content. His first feature film, Blackbird, was nominated for the Michael Powell Award at the Edinburgh International Film Festival 2013 and a Scottish BAFTA later the same year. His Second feature, Wake Me Up, is a Russian language psychological thriller shot in Moscow and released in cinemas in 2015. His documentaries have won prizes internationally, including Dear Araucaria, which won the Audience Award for Best Short Documentary at Sheffield Docfest 2015. John lived in London
