John Morton's highly successful radio show made an award winning transfer to television.

Feckless regional documentary maker Roy Mallard makes a series of films depicting a day in the life of 'people like us' from a range of professions.

Although never actually seen in shot (apart from a stray limb or unwitting reflection), Mallard manages to embroil himself in the lives of his subjects, usually with unfortunate consequences.

Series one featured a managing director, estate agent, police officer, solicitor, photographer and headteacher, each episode drawing wonderful performances from stellar casts.
