Karl is an award-winning television director. He recently directed EastEnders #EELive week which had an audience reach of 20 million, received record iPlayer requests, and became the most tweeted about UK drama of all time. In 2013 he directed the Eastenders episode which won the BAFTA Television award for Best Continuing Drama.                      

As a single camera director, Karl has experience across a range of shows including Casualty, Holby City, The Bill, and Minder.  Karl is currently directing on new six part drama series Redwater for BBC One.

Karl started directing ‘The Bill’ when it was 2 x 1hr episodes a week. In 2009 he was one of the core directors tasked with re-shaping the show for its move to HD and new 9pm transmission slot.

Karl started his directing career on EastEnders in 2001. He has since directed over 150 episodes. In 2013 he directed the 60 min Christmas day episode, and introduced ‘The Carters’.

Previously Karl has directed the climaxes of some of the programme’s biggest stories, including the Halloween murder of Michael Moon, the trial and exit of Janine, the Kat affair reveal, and the end of baby swap.
