Katy Lee is a Paris-based journalist for Agence France-Presse (AFP) who has reported from six countries.
A Cambridge graduate, she started her career as a reporter in London before heading to Hong Kong to cover the huge pro-democracy protests of 2014. The following year she covered the historic wave of refugees arriving in Europe, chronicling the hopes and fears of people she met landing on the beaches in Greece.
These days she has one eye on France -- also writing about radicalization, the far-right and the endless circus of French politics for media like Foreign Policy and Politico -- and the other on the continent as a whole in these strange times.
Her roots are in Essex and Vietnam, and she's very proud of both. An unapologetic glutton, she mostly spends her spare time tinkering in the kitchen or cycling around Paris looking for things to eat.
