Lauren
Bensted

Screenwriter and director for film and television

Lauren Bensted is a director and screenwriter for film and television.

Her first short film Anna, Island – co-written and co-directed with Dolly Alderton – was a portrait of a directionless young Londoner obsessed by the Radio 4 programme Desert Island Discs. It starred actresses Sia Berkeley (Skins) and Jessie Cave (Harry Potter) and featured a cameo from Desert Islands Discs host, Kirsty Young. Lauren also composed an original score for the film.

Her screenplay Confection won the Misfits Screenwriting Competition and was produced by AJ Leon; the film starred Esther Smith (Uncle; Cuckoo) and Tony Way (Game of Thrones).

Lauren's short thriller, New Year, developed in collaboration with Dolly Alderton for Objective Productions was part of London Calling 2017. She is also developing her first feature screenplay – a comedy drama about an all-female punk band who reunite in their sixties.
