Alex Holmes is nominated for a BAFTA film award

Alex Holmes has been nominated for a BAFTA award for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer for his documentary feature Maiden

Written and directed by Alex Holmes and executive produced by James Erskine, the film charts the inspirational story of Tracy Edwards, skipper of the first all-female sailing crew to enter the Whitbread Round the World Race in 1989. Despite being opposed by male competitors, the yachting press and potential sponsors, Tracy had the support of a remarkable crew and risked all to prove that women are equal of men.

The 2020 EE British Academy Film Awards will take place on Sunday 2nd February at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
