Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Simon Farnaby, Gerard Horan and Laura Checkley return to BAFTA award winning BBC4 comedy series Detectorists along with new cast members Rebecca Callard and Frankie Wilson. The second season of the multi award winning show, written by and starring Mackenzie Crook, picks right back up in the wilds of Essex – but will Andy and Lance find their big haul of Ancient wonder?
Laura Checkley returns as fellow Danbury detecting enthusiast, Louise. Laura was most recently seen in Cradle to Grave for BBC2 and will soon begin shooting on the third instalment of the Bridget Jones feature film franchise for Universal Pictures.
Aimee-Ffion Edwards returns as young history student Sophie. Aimee-Ffion will soon return for the third series of hit BBC drama Peaky Blinders and most recently shot Death in Paradise for BBC1.
Simon Farnaby returns as rival detecting club member, Art. Simon has just finished shooting his first original comedy feature Mindhorn starring Julian Barratt and is also currently writing on the Paddington sequel with Paul King.
Gerard Horan returns as Terry, president of the metal detecting club. Gerard was most recently seen in Cradle to Grave for BBC2 and in the upcoming Disney feature film, Beauty and the Beast.
Rebecca Callard plays the role of Toni, a part-time agricultural engineer who appears in the Christmas Special. Rebecca also plays one of the leads in David Leon’s directorial debut Orthodox which recently premiered at the Dinard Film Festival and is released in UK cinemas next month.
Frankie Wilson makes a special guest appearance and can currently be seen as series regular Michael Baker in Cradle to Grave for BBC2.
Detectorists returns on BBC4 at 10pm on Thursday 29th October.
