Christian Schwochow's Je Suis Karl premieres at the 2021 Berlinale

The Berlin International Film Festival 2021 has unveiled the films which will compete in this year's Berlinale competition, featuring the premiere of Je Suis Karl directed by Christian Schwochow.

The film tells the story of Maxi, the survivor of a terrorist attack, who joins the beguiling student Karl and becomes part of a European youth movement; one that aims for nothing less than seizing power.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the annual 71st festival will be split into two stages: from the 1st to the 5th of March, the festival will hold an online-only event, mainly for the international industry. COVID-permitting, from the 9th to the 20th of June, there will be an in-person festival held in Berlin, with red-carpet screenings and gala events.
