Egan, Hermes Gowar and Schmidt longlisted for Women’s Prize for Fiction

The longlist for the Women’s Prize for Fiction 2018 has been announced with novels by Jennifer Egan, Imogen Hermes Gowar and Sarah Schmidt among the nominees. The prize celebrates and recognises ‘excellence, originality and accessibility in women’s writing from throughout the world’.

Jennifer Egan is nominated for Manhattan Beach and Imogen Hermes Gowar features on the longlist with her Sunday Times bestselling debut The Mermaid and Mrs Hancock. Sarah Schmidt is longlisted for debut See What I Have Done, which has also been longlisted for both Literary Fiction Book of the Year and the Matt Richell Award for New Writer of the Year at the Australian Book Industry Awards (AIBAs).

The shortlist for the prize, previously known as the Orange Prize and Baileys Prize, will be announced on 23 April. The winner will be revealed on 6 June.
