Fourteen Curtis Brown and Conville & Walsh titles were chosen by readers in WH Smith’s list of 100 Best Paperbacks of All Time. In a call to their 75,000 social media followers, WH Smith asked fans to vote for the paperbacks that had made the greatest impact on them and which they would recommend to friends.
Among the classics listed were My Family and Other Animals by Gerald Durrell, alongside Rebecca and Jamaica Inn by Daphne Du Maurier and two favourites by John Steinbeck – Of Mice and Men and The Grapes of Wrath.
Contemporary Curtis Brown titles featured on the list include David Mitchell’s The Cloud Atlas, David Nicholls’ One Day and Susanna Clarke’s Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. Jojo Moyes’ Me Before You was also included as one of the Best Paperbacks of All Time, alongside Clare Mackintosh’s debut novel I Let You Go.
