Jen Beagin shortlisted for Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse Prize

Jen Beagin’s brilliant one-of-a-kind novel Vacuum in the Dark has just been shortlisted for Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse Prize for Comic Fiction with the judges calling it “honest (sometimes brutal), compassionate and always able to pick out what’s funny in the darkest spot.”

A constantly surprising, laugh-out-loud funny novel about an utterly unique woman dealing with some of the most universal issues in America today, Vacuum in the Dark is an unforgettable, astonishing read from one of the freshest voices in fiction today.

The annual contest returns this year after last year’s prize was withheld because none of the books were deemed funny enough. The winner will be announced at the Hay Festival in May.
