Katie Leung stars in Wild Swans at the Young Vic

Katie Leung takes on the role of Er-Hong in the first ever stage adaptation of Jung Chang’s autobiographical bestselling book Wild Swans, directed by Sacha Wares at the Young Vic Theatre.

Seen through the eyes of one courageous family across three generations of Chinese women – grandmother, mother and daughter – the story follows the momentous upheaval engendered by the Communist Revolution in China.

Katie plays the role of the author who was a teenager which the Cultural Revolution began and whose story comprises the third section of the book.

Wild Swans is a co-production between the Young Vic and American Repertory Theatre in Boston. It performed at ART in Boston earlier this year. The Boston Metro described it as “a visually stunning spectacle” and “impeccably orchestrated."

Wild Swans is Katie’s stage debut following her role as Cho Chang in the Harry Potter film series.

Wild Swans performs at the Young Vic until May 13th.
