little scratch opens at The Hampstead Theatre

The stage adaptation of Rebecca Watson’s fearless, experimental debut novel little scratch is set to open at The Hampstead Theatre in November. Directed by Katie Mitchell and adapted for the stage by Miriam Battye, the stage show is an unflinching account of a woman’s consciousness over the course of a single day in the aftermath of a sexual assault.

The cast features Moronkẹ Akinola (The Niceties, Finborough Theatre), Eleanor Henderson (Pass It On, Lyric Hammersmith), Eve Ponsonby (Longing, Hampstead) and Ragevan Vasan (Name, Place, Animal, Thing, Almeida), with sound score by Melanie Wilson.

little scratch runs from 5th November to 11th December. The novel was shortlisted for the Desmond Elliot Prize and Goldsmiths Prize, and Watson was named one of the Observer’s 10 best debut novelists of 2021.
