Louise Candlish’s Our House Wins at the British Book Awards

Louise Candlish has won the Crime & Thriller Book of the Year at The British Book Awards 2019.

Our House, published by Simon & Schuster, is her twelfth book and was the Waterstones Thriller of the Month for September 2018. As of the end of 2018, it has sold 165,000 copies.

Louise thanked the whole publishing supply chain in her acceptance speech. One judge said: “It was a campaign and a book that seemed to be everywhere for much of 2018.”

Other novels shortlisted included the latest by A. J. Finn, Jo Nesbo, and Ian Rankin.

The novel has been optioned for TV by producers Red Planet Pictures, and it was recently longlisted for the Theakston Old Peculiar Crime Novel of the Year Award, with the winner due to be announced on 18 July.

Translation rights have been sold in France, Italy, Hungary, Lithuania, and Russia.
