Me Before You by Jojo Moyes will be number 1 in the New York Times Bestsellers list on Sunday 21st February. Following the release of the trailer for the film adaptation of the novel on February 3rd, the book has topped the paperback trade fiction chart. The sequel, After You, is also at number 17 in the extended hardback listings.
Originally published in January 2012, Me Before You has sold over 5 million copies worldwide and has been published in 40 languages. The novel tells the story of Lou, a small-town girl caught between dead-end jobs, and Will, a successful young man all his life who finds himself wheelchair-bound after an accident. Will finds no reason to live until Lou is hired as his caretaker for six months, and she becomes determined to prove to him life is worth living.
The film, directed by Thea Sharrock and with screenplay by Jojo Moyes, will be released in the UK and US on 3rd June and in Germany on 23rd June.
