Paul Brannigan receives Evening Standard Film Awards Nomination

Paul Brannigan has received a nomination for Most Promising Newcomer at the Evening Standard Film Awards for his breakthrough performance in Ken Loach’s The Angel’s Share.

Paul leads the film as Robbie, a young ex-con hoping to make a new life for himself and his young family by starting out in the whiskey industry. The film won the Jury Prize at this year’s Cannes International Film Festival.

Since shooting The Angels’ Share, Paul has gone on to film both Jonathan Glazer’s new feature Under the Skin alongside Scarlet Johansson and The Proclaimers musical film Sunshine on Leith, directed by Dexter Fletcher, in which he plays wounded soldier named Ronnie.

Malcolm Campbell has also been nominated for Best Screenplay for What Richard Did, directed by Lenny Abrahamson. The film, which premiered at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival, is Malcolm’s first feature having previously written for such hit series as Shameless and Skins.

The Evening Standard Film Awards ceremony will be held on February 4th 2013 in London.
