Screen International has revealed its Stars of Tomorrow 2020, showcasing talented Actors and Filmmakers from across the UK and Ireland who are promisingly primed to make their mark in the industry in years to come. This year sees four Curtis Brown actors included in the selection.
Best known for his role as ‘Eric Effiong’ in the Netflix series Sex Education, Ncuti Gatwa has now returned to shoot series 3. He was nominated for a BAFTA award for his performance in series two. Ncuti will next be seen in the feature film, The Last Letter for your Lover, directed by Augustine Frizzell.
Donall O Healai is an Irish actor whose recent nomination for Best Lead Actor by the Irish Film and TV Academy for the film Arracht has earnt him huge recognition. Donal also starred in Impossible Monsters which he got rave reviews at the HBO Film Festival in New York and his other work includes Loud Places directed by Dan Kennedy; Catch 22; Pursuit and Traders.
Last year, Conrad Khan was cast as the out and out lead in Henry Blake’s County Lines opposite Harris Dickinson. The film is backed by the NFI and will hit the cinemas on 20th November. Conrad is currently shooting the new series of BAPTISTE for the BBC.
Paul Mescal shot to prominence playing the lead role of Connell in the adaptation of the Sally Rooney novel Normal People directed by Lenny Abrahamson which became BBC Three’s most watched show in its history. Next, Paul will be seen in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s directorial debut The Lost Daughter, opposite Olivia Coleman and Dakota Johnson.
