The Trawlerman by William Shaw, the fourth book in the much-acclaimed DS Alexandra Cupidi series, has been longlisted for the Gold Dagger, awarded to the best crime novel.
Sixteen Horses, the highly suspenseful and beautifully written debut by Greg Buchanan, has been nominated for the John Creasey (New Blood) Dagger, which is awarded to the best crime novel by a first-time author.
In the ALCS Gold Dagger for Non-Fiction category Patrick Radden Keefe has been nominated for Empire of Pain, the thrilling tale of the Sackler family dynasty that has been billed a "a page-turner with a villainous family to rival the Roys in Succession". The Devil You Know by Gwen Adshead & Eileen Horne (deemed an “unmissable book” by The Guardian) has been nominated in the same category, a clear-eyed exploration of what drives someone to commit acts of terrible violence by an internationally renowned forensic psychiatrist and psychotherapist.
The shortlists will be revealed on Friday 13 May, with the winners announced at a live event on Wednesday 29 June in London.
