May 15, 2018

Jane Harper’s novel, The Dry, has won the Crime & Thriller Book of the Year at The British Book Awards 2018. The judges were unanimous in their praise of the work, with one describing it as, ‘an out-of-nowhere, word of mouth sensation’, whilst another stated, ‘The Dry has it all: breathtaking and page-turning pace, a sympathetic if mysterious main character, and a singularly unique and exotic setting.’

In 2014 Harper decided to enrol in Curtis Brown’s 12-week novel writing course during which she completed her debut work, The Dry. Since its original publication in 2017, the book has garnered critical acclaim and won several awards including Book of the Year at the Australian Book Industry Awards and a CWA Dagger Award. It has sold over 300,000 copies in the UK alone, while the film rights have been optioned by Reese Witherspoon and Bruna Papandrea.
