The Mirror and the Light, directed by Jeremy Herrin, premieres at the Gielgud Theatre

Jeremy Herrin's highly anticipated production of The Mirror and the Light, adapted from Hilary Mantle's bestselling Wolf Hall trilogy, has premiered at the Gielgud Theatre.

In England, 1536. Anne Boleyn’s fate has been sealed by the executioner. Jane Seymour must deliver King Henry a healthy heir. And to the disgust of Henry’s nobles, Thomas Cromwell continues his ruthless ascent from the gutters of Putney to the highest rank beside his master. But Cromwell is vulnerable and his enemies are poised to strike.

Adaptations of previous instalments in the trilogy, Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies, were hailed as must-see theatrical events. In this final chapter adapted by Hilary Mantle, Ben Miles reprises his role as the legendary Thomas Cromwell while Nathaniel Parker returns to his Olivier Award-winning performance as Henry VIII.

Jeremy Herrin is an acclaimed theatre director and the artistic director of Headlong, where his work includes All My Sons at the Old Vic; Labour of Love in the West End; People, Places & Things at the National, West End, UK tour and in New York.

The Mirror and the Light runs to 23rd of January 2022. For more information or tickets, see here.
